Chris & Rachael's wedding

A couple of weeks back it was Chris & Rachael's wedding at the beautiful St. Peter's Church in Heysham, overlooking the wonderful Morecambe Bay, a great location that I can't wait to come back to.
For all their excitement and exuberance, I thought it was a rather lovely, tender wedding. Chris is a bit of a joker, but I think the biggest laugh of the day came when Rachael practically squealed "I Will!" when asked if she would take this man! A great day, and I wish them both well.

When You're A Boy (Boys Keep Swinging')

My young nephews came to visit last weekend, and rather like with my own 2 lads, I find I'm quite fascinated how at around about the same age, all of them have started to develop their own individual styles, so how could I not take the opportunity for a quick photoshoot with the 3 of them (Stanley, Archie, you're next!), so stitched together into the one portrait are George, Charlie and Louis.

Dawn & Andrew's wedding

A couple of weekends ago I was back at one of my absolute favourite wedding locations to shoot Dawn and Andrew's wedding. The Ashton Memorial in Lancaster has just about everything you want in a location, great architecture, fabulous light, great character and gorgeous views.

A really great couple, Andrew arrived in style at the venue driving a giant tractor! Dawn burst into tears the moment she stepped through the Ashton's doors and then spent the rest of the day smiling and laughing her head off. Aren't weddings great!

Abi & Mark's glorious mixed faith wedding

My third wedding for May this year was a real stunner, Abi and Mark's wedding at Trinity United Reformed Church in Lancaster was a real pleasure to attend.

Not only were these guys great, and the day a fascinating mix of faiths, but I absolutely fell in love with the church itself, a little treasure tucked away in the City Centre, and it felt very special that Mark's father, the Reverend of the Church was conducting the service.

After the ceremony there was a real English summer tea party feel as drinks were served in the church courtyard. Abi, Mark and myself (with Suzy along again for the day) took a stroll through the nearby sun-drenched park on Dallas Road for some lovely portraits, then back to the Community Centre for a Sri-Lankan wedding breakfast.

Alice Hawkins at The Grundy Art Gallery, Blackpool

Last week whilst enjoying an anniversary jaunt around the North West coast with Mrs Beanphoto (a rare treat!) we had the wondrous pleasure of seeing the Alice Hawkins Exhibition at The Grundy Art Gallery in Blackpool. And I was knocked out! We both were. Her portrsits of Blackpool entertainers were brilliant. It reminded us why we love to visit galleries and see exhibitions. And it reminded me how I need to make time to shoot more personal work.

It was my first visit to the Grundy and hopefully won't be my last.

something a bit quirky, a little offbeat...

A couple of weeks back (okay so I'm a bit behind with my workload!) I was asked to produce some business portraits for a client starting out in his own consultancy business and wanting "something a bit quirky, a little offbeat", we agreed on trying something out and here's a sample from the shoot.

Summer Picnic - Trash the Dress!

Oh, what fun we had!
Back in January I photographed Scott and Catherine's wedding, but it was some time before that when Catherine and I had first talked about doing a Trash The Dress shoot some time later in the year, when the weather was warmer!
It's something I've been wanting to do for a while but just not got around to, plus you need a bride who's up for it!

Well that time came around last week, and so I took Catherine, her sister Claire and niece Tallulah up to the Forest of Bowland for a summers picnic (cupcakes and cherries and lemonade!).

Suzy (see recent posts) came along too for the experience.

The weather was windy but sunny and the girls braved it for the cameras in fine style. After the picnic Catherine and Suzy played a little Badminton, and then went for the full-on water pistol fight! Afterwards I took them along to a beautiful buttercup-filled meadow in Abbeystead, to let them dry out and chill out!

It was great fun, and if anyone else out there fancies something similar, just get in touch!

Jenni & Marc's Wedding

Jenni & Marc's wedding was really quite something.
As mentioned in a previous post, I was unsure I would be recovered in time from my knee injury, but with Suzy to assist I was delighted to be there for the first part of the day as Jenni prepared for the day ahead, and then at Ellel St. Johns Church near Galgate for the service. After that it was a handover to Kevin Lindeque to cover the reception at the Elms Hotel in Bare, Morecambe, and what a great job he did!


I'm not sure why all the ones I've selected today are in b&w, but they show the spirit of the day.

Thanks again to Suzy (have a great 3 months in Canada!) and to Kev (I owe you!), and all the best to a great couple, who took everything in their stride and had a great day!

Portrait prize winner

I mentioned a few posts back that I had offered a free portrait session and print to the Multiple Sclerosis Society (Lancaster, Morecambe & District Branch) Spring Ball charity auction and raffle to help raise funds.
